Agro-morphological, physiological and biochemical performances of two new durum wheat cultivars under salt stress conditions

چکیده

Soil salinization requires developing genetically salt-tolerant and high-yielding genotypes, especially in semi-arid arid regions. In this study, two new Tunisian durum wheat cultivars, INRAT100 Dhahbi, were tested for the first time a semi-closed environment against salinity (0, 6 12 dS m-1). Dry weight of aerial root parts, plant height, number tillers per plant, spike awn length, grain yield its components, relative water content, membrane permeability, chlorophyll leaf fluorescence, i.e., initial fluorescence (F0) quantum photosystem II (Fv/Fm), potassium (K+) sodium (Na+) accumulation ratio K+/Na+ assessed. Overall, most growth performance, physiological biochemical attributes affected by salinity. Notably, was characterized higher K+ ion selectivity, content Fv/Fm, lower permeability than that Dhahbi under saline conditions. However, exhibited length spikelets spike. These findings suggest is more tolerant to might be recommended farmers marginal environments.

The effect of microbial inoculants on physiological responses of two wheat cultivars under salt stress

Salinity is one of the most important abiotic stresses that limit crop growth and productivity. This study focuses on the effects of different strains of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) on the physiological responses of two wheat cultivars under normal and salt stress conditions. The wheat cultivars selected include one which is tolerant to salinity (Kavir) and one which is sensitiv...

Comparative Performance of Multivariable Agro-Physiological Parameters for Detecting Salt Tolerance of Wheat Cultivars under Simulated Saline Field Growing Conditions

Field-based trials are crucial for successfully achieving the goals of plant breeding programs aiming to screen and improve the salt tolerance of crop genotypes. In this study, simulated saline field growing conditions were designed using the subsurface water retention technique (SWRT) and three saline irrigation levels (control, 60, and 120 mM NaCl) to accurately appraise the suitability of a ...
